Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(28)
In this four week class, students will continue to discuss excerpts from "A Young People's History of the United States", and learn history from the less discussed perspectives. We will end this section by finishing part one of the book.

Class experience

Students will understand that history is told in differing perspectives, and that often times, they do not hear all perspectives.
Students will learn about familiar historical issues in non-traditional view points.
Students will engage in conversation about these events, and work toward understanding different viewpoints.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This class will discuss topics that are sensitive. Those topics include genocide, disease, invasion, colonization, slavery, massacres, and death. As with the students I teach every day, we will talk about these topics openly and honestly. Unfortunately, all of these are aspects of history. If, at any time, a student is overwhelmed by the content of this course, they are free to message me on zoom or post to the classroom account on outschool, and we can talk about any issues separately. History can be upsetting for some, please consider before enrolling in this class.
Students must have access to the book "A Young People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. Book is not included in the price of the course.
