Students will be expected to share their screen with Mrs. Cardwell during class so she can ensure immediate feedback. Students will also be encouraged to talk with each other and give feedback on other's projects. This is a crash course in getting started. The age range is 8-13 years old because it will be a FAST-PACED 50 minute session. This is just to give your learner the knowledge needed to start creating on their own. This course is designed with the quick learner in mind and covers quite a bit in 50 minutes. -How to navigate Scratch -"Algorithm? I thought that was a math word!" (Students will learn how algorithms apply in every day life, not just in math!) -Basic Scratch vocabulary -How to create new projects -How to save projects -How to share projects *We will be working on completing a basic project with teacher guidance, but also room for creativity. Intro level Scratch lesson (for those who have never used it).*

Students will have to create an account on the website "scratch.mit.edu" It will require a username, birth date, email address, and country. Their actual name is not needed and not suggested.

I have taught a unit on Scratch for the last 3 years every semester and my students always LOVE it. I am able to teach it to the students in such a fun way that they are challenged but not stressed! Whether your student is a natural with computers, or doesn't have much experience, they will be challenged and learn.
