Scientists in Training! Let's Learn - Scientific Method

Hello!  Science is so much more than specific fields such as "biology" or "chemistry."  Science is the way in which we learn about the world around us.  It applies to all walks of life!  The best way to understand this process of learning is to practice exploring our environment.  Through this hands-on course, learners will be able to practice the scientific method together by completing various experiments to understand the steps of scientific discovery and identifying variables.

In the first two weeks, class focus will be on the steps of the scientific method and variables while playing different games to review.  Learners will conduct a different experiment each of the following four weeks to practice writing a proper hypothesis, experimental design, collecting data, drawing conclusions, and sharing results.  

Class will complete the following schedule:
Week 1 - Steps of the scientific method
Week 2 - Variables 
Week 3 - Flight of a paper plane lab
Week 4 - Drops on a penny lab
Week 5 - Dissolving skittles lab
Week 6 - Water solutions and density lab
