During this weekly one-on-one session, I will provide individualized guidance that will help your child with what they are struggling with in science. Learners will be able to discuss what they are struggling in with their current science homework. I will then go over these problems, breaking them down in a comprehensive way. I will give help and feedback to a learner regarding their homework and walk them through any processes they are struggling with. Each learners experience during this ongoing tutoring sessions will be specifically tailored to the learner's tutoring needs. Learners will be encouraged to ask questions about the topic they are studying and will gain new insight into how they learn. We can review difficult concepts, troublesome homework problems, test prep, and any labs or projects. My goal is to help the students understand the concepts. If you need a particular concept retaught, it may take several sessions to do so. I can also help advanced students by providing attentional/ more in depth topics about what they are learning about in class. We will work on study materials/ topics a learner is currently working on, so before a session begins I require a parent or guardian to reach out and give me an idea of what material the learner will need covered during the session. Parents can either send materials to be worked on during class, or I can make my own worksheets to send to the learner before class starts and that will be covered during class. Each learner and learning style is different, so I will adjust my tutoring style to accommodate them. Each session will be unique to the learner enrolled. Positive reinforcement will be used to praise learners. What to expect when enrolled in this one on one class: Each class with be tailored to individual student. These sessions are created as a one-on-one type class so that the student can meet the academic goals that are needed. The goal of each class is for students to be able to apply what they have learned in class to their current schoolwork. Typically it is a lecture/discussion/note taking format as we move through the topics the learner is learning about. I will share my online whiteboard screen and workout problems with the learner and they will be able to see exactly what to do! Subjects we may cover in class: chemistry, physics, biology, earth and space science, life science, environmental science, biology, etc. (No AP tutoring at this time). I can also advise on study skills, time management skills, and other tools for studying success if the learner desires. For example, if I notice that a learner takes messy notes, I may suggest alternative ways to more effectively arrange their work. (If you are interested in a time I do not have listed, please send me a message with your availability and I will do my best to accommodate.)
Learning Goals
Students will:
1.Enhance their approaches to learning from instruction in science courses, particularly for solving novel problems by becoming more skilled readers, note-takers, and strategic learners.
2.Develop strategies that work for them.
