Students build an understanding of amphibians and reptiles along with the important role they play in their habitats. They will explore amphibian and reptile specimens, meet a variety of cold-blooded animals, and learn how we can all protect them. This is a 1-hour program that will compare and contrast amphibians and reptiles (e.g. what are their similarities, what are their differences?). Animal biofacts, digitally shared images, and live animal ambassadors will be used to explore the world of amphibians and reptiles. There will be discussion and question answering to encourage students to critically think and form an answer of their own through observation. This program will also briefly discuss ways we can protect our local amphibians and reptiles wherever we live. This program will not have a full PowerPoint presentation (only a few images shown via the Shared Screen feature). It will also not provide an in-depth or advanced lesson on amphibian and reptile adaptations as we will cover the basics. Class will be taught in English.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to tell the difference between an amphibian and a reptile, basic characteristics and adaptations, as well as their importance in the ecosystem.
