Class experience
"Words have power!". In this class learners will fill their smart brains with some awesome words to use when experiencing the different people and things of this world. Instead of shying away from "new and different", students will use words like "new, cool, different, unique, interesting". We will grow our curiosity by asking wonder questions that lead to a better understanding of our world and others. Examples: Commenting on a friend's artwork. "Wow! That looks interesting. Tell me...
Objective: Learners will be able to understand the power words. Learners will think critically about word choice when talking about differences. Learners will understand how "wondering" can lead to new knowledge and experiences.
I have a degree in elementary education and have been working with kids through teaching, coaching, and childcare for over 15 years. I have extensive experience and expertise working with ESL learners. Also, I am raising three boys of my own ( ages 1, 5 & 8). I am often inspired to create classes that cover subjects I find important in my own parenting journey. I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. To support my curriculum development I dedicate significant time to reading, listening, and learning about the most current research on child development, teaching, and parenting.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
