Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Top o' the Morning! Let's draw and paint a Saint Patrick's Day cat together during this fun art class. Students will learn drawing skills, coloring skills, and also everyone will get a chance to socialize and chat about cats, art and Saint Patrick's Day! Students will be introduced to sketching and will be given freedom to change their Saint Patrick's Day cats any way they could like. I love uniqueness and creativity! We will also talk about expression and emotion in regard to how a student draws the face of their cat. Students may then choose to decorate their artwork with shamrocks, 4 leaf clovers, rainbows, hats, or any other Saint Patrick's Day icons. Once sketching is complete, students may ink their artwork with a Sharpie marker. We will discuss color and use all the colors of the rainbow to finish our art. I will also discuss how I used orange and green to represent the Irish flag. Students may paint an orange cat; however, many students may wish to paint another cat, such as their own pet cat.

My teaching style is relaxed. Students have free reign to use their imagination and make a drawing that is fun for them. I will guide students along and give feedback and recommendations. I will provide technical information on how to use art materials.

At the end of class, we will have time to show and talk about the art we created.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.

I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.

My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
