🚀In this class, we will use strategies to decode new words. Beginning with CVC blending, this class will get increasingly more difficult as it progresses and introduces more sounds like /ee/, /oo/, /ea/, /ey/, etc. This class will be structured via Google Slides and a whiteboard, using explicit and systematic instruction. My teaching style is fun, energetic, and laced with hand motions and visual cues to help improve memory, engagement, and participation. This class is taught using strategies from the Science of Reading. We build from sounds up to learning the importance of vowels and learn strategies that help us decode words, not just guess them. Students will interact with the teacher by listening and participating in the I do, We do, You do model of instruction. Be prepared to read independently, in duos, trios, or all together. 🎉I am a certified EC-6 Texas teacher, but do not have Special Education or Reading Specialist qualifications. I have helped many struggling learners through engagement, encouragement, and research-based strategies. I am also a certified ESL teacher. I use hand motions and pictures on a regular basis to help improve memory and comprehension. If your student is functional in English, this class may be helpful. 🚀Students do need to already know all letter sounds, be reading CVC words with decent fluency, and show readiness for higher learning. ⭐️1. In the case of a screen sharing class, it may be difficult to help late students if they need. -Be sure students have on shirts and bottoms (if it is a dancing/moving class). -I don’t always mute students, but I will if the background is too noisy. Please be sure your student knows how to unmute when it is time. 👉🏼PARENTS/CARETAKERS: Please be sure to stay off camera as much as possible for the comfort and safety of all learners. 👉🏼SIBLINGS: I can accommodate for siblings if the class is age appropriate by opening another slot, upon request. If the sibling is not enrolled in the class, please be sure they are not seen on camera. If more than one sibling is enrolled, they may share 1 device. 👉🏼REFUNDS: I do not often offer refunds for missed classes (unless I miss). Outschool uploads our class video after every class and students will be able to view the class later. If you must miss an ongoing class you can choose to unenroll to avoid payment, but the spot may or may not be filled when ready to re-enroll. Otherwise, you can refer to the video. 👉🏼FEEDBACK: I am working on building a set of classes that are fun, engaging, and meaningful. Please message me with how I can make my classes better if you are willing. I ask that problems come to me first to see if I can solve them. I am a very caring and passionate teacher and I just ask for a chance to offer satisfaction. HAVE FUN!
