45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 2 - 4
Each class, we will start by reading a book together. I will do most of the reading but students will be invited to join in some if they would like. Students do not need to have a copy of the book for class. Most weeks the books will be nonfiction but some weeks it may be a fiction book related to the topic of the week. After having some discussion about the book, we will observe and discuss a short video about a topic or concept from the book to further our knowledge. Next, we will use our building bricks to work on a building challenge. This challenge may be building a certain item, building a solution to a problem related to the topic of the week, or building something related to something specifically from the book we read. Finally, we will work on a drawing project related to the topic of the week. Some weeks, we will draw along with a tutorial (although learners are always welcome to draw creatively if that is what they prefer). Children will be invited to share their drawings and creations and to share interesting facts they learned or gained understanding about. They will also be encouraged to tell someone in their family what they learned about each week. Families could easily implement an after class writing activity along with each class if you would like to have your child do a little bit of writing practice related to the theme each week. I am more than happy to provide writing response pages for families who would like to have there children use those after class. Class format: Read and Discuss: 10-15 min Watch and Discuss: 5-10 min Build: 10-15 min Draw: 10-15 min Each week, we will focus on a new topic. Students are always welcome to recommend topics for upcoming weeks. Children are welcome to attend class any week without needing any prior knowledge from previous weeks. Upcoming topics: 1st week of Sept.: Unusual Animals 2nd week of Sept: Popcorn 3rd week of Sept: Fish 4th week of Sept: Animal Armor

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.
- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!
I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
