Class Experience

This class is designed to allow students to review and confirm what they already know and/or to help them in areas that they might need additional instruction. The class will be structured around a PowerPoint presentation. First, we will review how to write ratios. Then, the students will learn the difference between part to part ratios and part to whole ratios by viewing examples of each. Then, we will do some problems together. Next, the students will solve some problems. Once they seem to understand these concepts, we will review what proportions are. Then, the students will learn how to solve for a variable in a proportion in order to get two equivalent ratios. As before, I will show some examples. Then, we will do some problems together. Next, the students will do some problems. Finally, I will review the main concepts and respond to any additional questions. In order for the students to keep track of everything that was covered, they should be prepared to document key facts taught during the presentation as well as many of the examples that will be done in class. That way, they will have excellent notes to refer to at a later time.
***Basic multiplication and division skills will be necessary in order to successfully complete this class.

Learning Goals
