Class Experience

I teach students critical, foundational programming in the Python Programming Language.

The following Topics are covered:
Functions, variables, data types, arrays, loops, and operators as well as procedural and object oriented programming These skills easily transfer to other languages.

My python course is for the complete beginner in computer programming.
My Python course is structured into 3 consecutive classes which include a class coding assignment, a homework assignment, and a quiz per class.
In the first class, I lecture the student on why python is such a popular language of choice in the programming world.
The advantages of programming in python as opposed to other programming languages.
I also guide the student into programing their first computer program where they learn about variables, data types and also learn how to print to the screen.
In the second class, I teach the student about Arithmetic Operators by utilizing basic math and getting input from the user which is then stored in variables and then how to incorporate all of these elements into their own computer program.
The Arithmetic Operators covered in the class include the addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, the exponent and the modulus operators.
In the third class, I teach the student about programming logic in regards to using IF, ELIF and ELSE Conditionals as well as learning how to use the Comparison Operators: less than <, greater than >, equal to ==, and the NOT Operator !=.
I also teach the student about Chained Conditionals where multiple conditions are combined into the same line of code by using the Logical Operators: AND, OR and NOT.
I teach the student about Nested Statements where IF, ELIF and ELSE Conditionals can be nested or embedded in each other.

My method of teaching is both visual and audible utilizing a power point presentation as well as using a code editor where I code for the student in real time. I show the student how he or she can also access this free coding platform which they can use to code the class example code which I cover line by line.

My teaching style is lecture based as well as interactive with my students where I engage my students in the class material by asking them questions in order to engage them and ensure that the student has a solid understanding of the concepts covered.
The student also gains coding experience and practice by coding with me in real time.

Students get to interact with me and each other. This interaction includes the lecture material, the slides, question and answer interaction, real time coding using the free online editor called REPL.IT where students can hone their coding skills. Each class comes with a class assignment, a homework assignment as well as a quiz.
At the end of the three class course, the student will be emailed a personalized Certificate of Completion.

Learners don't require any previous experience or knowledge of computer programming.
