!Welcome to my classroom! In this lesson, we will learn about the layers panel in Procreate, the apple app version of Photoshop. This app can be used to create logos, design products, animate, illustrate ideas, play with color and texture - anything created in this app can be exported as images or to print and share. It's great fun, and I use the app as a professional graphic designer and illustrator for work when I'm not teaching. It's a lovely tool for Digital Art! Working with layers can be really confusing at first, there are lots of cool effects and tricks to learn to take full advantage of what this app has to offer. In this class we will learn about how image size affects the number of layers allowed on a canvas, the image adjusters exclusive to the layers panel, merging layers, clipping masks, and how to color with layers like a pro. This topic is touched on briefly in my "Let's Learn About Procreate - the iPad App!" class, but having time to really dive into it will open so many more doors for creativity in the digital art world.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to use the layers panel in Procreate: how to move them, why we use layers, the tools within the layers panel, image adjusters within the layers panel, references, clipping masks, and how to correctly flatten an image - and why you should flatten a finished art work for exporting.Other Details
Parental Guidance
The Procreate App ($10 one time purchase in Apple's App Store) used in this class does not obtain user information, and does not require an account to use. It's an art-making app very similar to Photoshop, it's a tool to create digital art, and is used by many in the professional digital art world. This class is designed for students to learn how to draw and paint with this program, as well as create patterns, and learn about different ways digital art can be implemented.
Supply List
Please have Procreate (Apple App Store) downloaded and updated before class. An Apple Pencil is encouraged for illustrating with Procreate, but not required! If any students would prefer to use their finger to draw, I will show them how to enable this function in the app!

Procreate is like the iPad version of PSD (Photoshop), which I was professionally trained in at school - I am an artist earning passive income from my digital works, made with the procreate app. I got my BFA from SCAD in 2018 where I focused on various digital and traditional design methods and programs, among other art forms like fibers and drawing. l learned about digital art making tools, designing digitally, and started working with Procreate to design professionally with various companies, including Loloi Rugs and BookBeau, various freelance work, commission work, as well as for my own business/website, www.megfallin.com. I have been working with it at an expert level for 4+ years, and feel more than comfortable teaching the basics of how this tool works, so students can feel comfortable creating digitally with it. It's been my go to app, I know it better than any other program I work with. There isn't a way to be more trained than I already am, otherwise I would be! I'm excited to show my learners how this app functions so they can use it to create a little more sustainably. Reviews
