Description

Class Experience

Goals are to become proficient in sight reading.
To produce a good tone.
To develop finger dexterity.
Eventually learn to apply scale knowledge to improvisation.
Homework! This is just daily practicing the instrument. During my best years, I played saxophone 2 or more hours a day. It is a lot of repetition, training the coordination of the brain, thoughts, and fingers. Like any physical activity, it just takes time and practice.
If needed, I can provide a fingering chart. Blank music notation paper can be very useful.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Listen to Phil Woods, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Charlie Parker, Eric Marienthal, John Harle.
