This is a class that let's individual students practice any elementary age math topic with which they struggle. This session will be most beneficial if the student/parent notifies me ahead of time concerning the exact skills in which the student struggles. Then I can prepare to teach and practice problems of this type. Each session will focus on one skill or part of a skill. The sessions will include a lot of interaction, in the form of questions and answers, to ascertain the child's...
We will practice different math skills, depending on the need of the student.
In the past, I privately tutored children in grades K-6. I have helped students learn fundamental math and reading skills. I also worked for a company to provide extra math instruction to struggling third, fourth, and sixth grade students. I currently am an assistant teacher for three third grade math classes.
At the parent's request, I can provide more math problems for student practice. If a student prefers to sign up for multiple sessions, homework will be assigned in between sessions. Homework will help the student master a topic by practicing it. It will also show any struggles and guide future sessions.
Please bring a pencil with an eraser and a few pieces of paper to class. If there are other manipulatives or visuals that your child needs to bring to class, I will let you know in a message.
Any student that has been assigned homework, will post it to be graded. Any weaknesses that appear in the homework assignment will be covered in the next session. Completing more practice and receiving a formal grade can boost confidence and direct future learning and practice. Learner success is also assessed by every small or big step of growth in a student's learning.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
