In this ongoing Poetry camp, students will learn how to write poetry. Each week students will learn about a different poetry type and by the end of the week they will have written their very own creative poem.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction of an Accrostic Poem
Introduce students to what an Acrostic Poem is and let students view Acrostic Poem chart and poem pattern style.
Lesson 2
Brainstorming Session
Talk with students about brainstorming their poem ideas and rhyming words if needed.
Lesson 3
Poem Drafting
Choose a few topics from yesterday’s brainstorming session and together, create a few couplet poems. Students will begin working on their own Acrostic Poem.
Lesson 4
Presentation
Students make final touches and present their poem to the class.
 Week 2
Lesson 5
Introduction of a Concrete Poem
Lesson 6
Brainstorming Session
Talk with students about brainstorming their poem ideas and rhyming words if needed.
Lesson 7
Poem Drafting
Choose a few topics from yesterday’s brainstorming session and together, create a few couplet poems. Students will begin working on their own ConcretePoem.
Lesson 8
Presentation
Students make final touches and present their poem to the class.
 Week 3
Lesson 9
Introduction of a Haiku
Introduce and review what a Haiku is and let students view Haiku chart and poem pattern style.
Lesson 10
Brainstorming Session
Talk with students about brainstorming their poem ideas and rhyming words if needed.
Lesson 11
Poem Drafting
Choose a few topics from yesterday’s brainstorming session and together, create a few couplet poems. Students will begin working on their own Haiku.
Lesson 12

Introduce and review what a Limerick is and let students view Limerick chart and poem pattern style.

Choose a few topics from yesterday’s brainstorming session and together, create a few couplet poems. Students will begin working on their own Limerick.

Introduction of a Clerihew and Color Poem
Introduce and review what a Clerihew and Color Poem is and let students view Clerihew and Color Poem chart and poem pattern style.
Lesson 18
Brainstorming Session
Talk with students about brainstorming their poem ideas and rhyming words if needed.
Lesson 19
Poem Drafting
Choose a few topics from yesterday’s brainstorming session and together, create a few couplet poems. Students will begin working on their own Clerihew and Color Poem.
Lesson 20
Presentation
Students make final touches and present their poem to the class.
Homework Offered
Students if needed may use outside class time to work on their poem that is due each Thursday.

Students will need access to a printer. 
Every Sunday parents are given a weekly resource packet in the classroom tab. There are materials that will need to be printed out, so a printer is required to participate in these classes. 

Students will need to have a pencil for each class session. They may also bring something to color with such as crayons, markers or color pencils.
