Students will learn to draw a pixel art style character (like from a video game) using a free (or paid, if they already own it) art program in this one-time class.
Class experience
I will teach students basic and original character drawing in a "pixel art" style. Pixel art is commonly used in old video games and in modern, retro-style games. They will learn about proportion and color and how they are used in pixel art. I will teach by sharing my screen with my students and allow them to follow along with what I do and also I will give them freedom to draw on their own while I assist them. This class is taught in English.
Students will learn how to draw human or human-like characters in a 16-bit style. They will learn the importance of proportion when creating low-resolution art (ex: head size, hand size). Students will learn what colors to use and how to add shading and shadows to make the art look authentic.
