***This class is currently being offered ONLY in Flex format. We have a lot of fun creating our pixel art this week in Flex classes. Each student is able to take as much time as they need to complete the work. It is so fun sharing our final art in the classroom with each other. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the Flex offering***

Who is up for some cool pixel art? I will teach young artists how to draw the 8-bit Super Mario Bros characters on graph paper, guiding them to create their own drawing by following along. Students will need a variety of colored markers, pencils, or pens, to create their 8-bit characters. I will teach on graph paper, and students should come prepared with their own graph paper, which can be printed for free online: https://www.waterproofpaper.com/graph-paper/graph-paper-quarter-inch.pdf. 
We will build the art square by square, until the character comes to life! Please make sure paper is ready before class start time, as there won't be time to print it out during the class. While this is an art-based course, we want to also feel like a community, and get to know others who share a love for Super Mario Bros.
Here's a list of 8-bit characters we will draw each week: 
January 4-10: Retro Mario 
January 11-17: Goomba
January 18-24: Fire Flower
January 25-31: 1-Up/Mushroom
February 1-7: Mario (jumping)
February 8-14: Luigi (final live class!)

**If you enjoy 8 Bit Mario Bros. Pixel Art, consider joining the FLEX class, which is an extension to this one!
The FLEX class option will create: Koopa Troopa, Lakitu, Yoshi, Toad, and Boo!

You will need graph paper. You can print it for free here: https://www.waterproofpaper.com/graph-paper/graph-paper-quarter-inch.pdf
Also have a variety of colored markers, pencils, or pens. We will be using color to block out squares and make our graph pixel art!

I am most passionate about teaching art and learning in unique ways. My approach to teaching infuses encouragement and optimism while having fun and connecting with a new generation over shared interests. Every child is special and celebrated for being who they are! No matter the class, I believe in positively approaching learning and finding joy in it. 

• Outside of Outschool, I founded a nonprofit youth performing arts academy in 2015.
