In this class we will work on explicit phonics skills. Explicit instruction in phonics involves systematic and sequential teaching of the letter-sound relationships in written English that allow readers to decode words. We will work on letter identification, letter sounds, blending words, and vowel sounds. We will use google slides via share-screen, a worksheet, and magnetic letters via document camera. This is a class with the following schedule: Week 1 August 6th- theme: letter identification, letter sounds, and how to write letters Week 2 August 13th-theme: letter identification, letter sounds, and how to write letters Week 3 August 20th-theme: Short vowel a sound Week 4 August 27th-theme: short vowel e sound week 5 September 3rd-theme: short i sound week 6 September 10th- theme: short o sound week 7 September 17th-theme: short u sound Week 8 September 24th- theme: CVC word building Your child may sign up or leave at any time. Each week does not build off upon previous weeks.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to spell, read, and write CVC words.

We will use googleslides via share-screen, document camera to see my work via share-screen, a worksheet sent prior to class, and magnetic letters via share-screen.
