Each class will consist of the following approximate division of time: 10 mins. of connecting with each other 10-12 mins of phonological awareness exercises 10-12 mins of phonemic manipulation exercises (A game I call 'Switch It') 10-15 mins of reading a decodable story (A story where they can read every word) The phonological awareness exercises will very gradually increase in difficulty, from segmenting words in sentences to segmenting parts of words, to segmenting sounds in a word. ...

Students will learn all the letter sounds, and a few digraphs. They will be able to read CVC words and some high frequency words in short stories independently.

There will be an oral assessment given individually to each child at the beginning and end of the whole class to test their phonics knowledge and assess growth. Parents are able to opt out if they do not feel comfortable.Grades Offered
Students should know some letter sounds, but do not need to know them all. They should be able to sit at the computer for that time period, although I do allow fidget toys or for them to stand or sit on a comfy chair.
