Class Experience

Students will learn the historical context of the writing of America’s national anthem.
Students will learn an overview of the War of 1812.
Students will learn an overview of the Battle of Baltimore.
Students will learn how a poem became a song, and a song became America’s national anthem.
Students will learn about the particular huge flag that flew over Fort McHenry the night 
     Francis Scott Key wrote his iconic poem.
And finally students will have an opp
Teacher Carol has an MA in American History, and a PhD in Pedagogy, as well as a background of teaching history, government, and economics. Fun fact... as a 6th grader, I memorized all the stanzas of the National Anthem for fun. There are four! 
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
