In this one-time course, I will start with a PowerPoint presentation about outer space. Since we will be making outer space slime, we will talk about how the universe is stretching, moving, bending and being pulled in different directions! The basic topics covered will be about gravity, how space bends, and black holes. After the PowerPoint, we will make our sparkly Galaxy slime! No previous knowledge needed. Extra glitter or added scent is up to the individual. We will be making the slime...
Students will learn about space and also will gain hands on crafting experience while making their slime.
Elmer's Glue Clear 1 bottle (or Elmer's colored glue- if you choose colored glue- or glitter glue, get colors that will look like outer space! Blue, purple, pink, black, etc) Food coloring (if you choose clear glue that you will color yourself- Recommend colors are blue and red so you get a dark purple when mixed). You will need *either* 1 tablespoon borax OR contact solution( contact solution must contain Boric Acid or Sodium Borate). 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Silver glitter or star confetti. Slime scent (optional- there is a website called Demeter Fragrance that sells slime scent but you will need to allow several weeks for delivery) A bit of water if you want your slime stretchier. Wax paper or something to protect your table.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Adult supervision may be required while making slime and using ingredients. Please be sure to check the ingredients listed for any potential allergies your child may have.
