Class Experience

Join us on our reading adventure, where we will be introduced to, learn about and apply our knowledge of blends with digraphs, final blends and y as a vowel.
Part 1 We begin our lesson by working on phonemic awareness, sound/letter relationships, blending sounds to read words and identifying vowels. 
Part 2 We are then introduced to a new concept, singing songs, brainstorming words and playing games.
Part 3 We will then identify phonemes/sounds in a decodable text, working on fluency and comprehension, reading and discussing the text together and working on syllabication to break down words into smaller parts.

Day 1 -  Blends with digraphs (thr, squ, shr, tw)
Day 2 - Final Blends
Day 3 -  Y says i
Day 4 - Y says e
These classes are for children in 1st through 2nd grade that need supplemental reading support, sound/letter review or are emerging readers. These Orton-Gillingham structured lessons are research based, systematic, fun and engaging!

**This is the 5th class of a 10 Part Series. It is not required to take the previous classes, however it is highly recommended. Please reach out if you have any questions.**

There is no greater delight than helping a child learn to read successfully, it is my passion!  I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from West Chester University, PA and I am an Orton-Gillingham  certified Dyslexia Interventionist. I have over 20 years of teaching experience, working in a variety of school settings from the U.K. Singapore, S.Korea and the U.S. My lessons are designed using the science of reading,  IMSE, S.P.I.R.E, David Kilpatrick, Lively Letters and Jolly Phonics. I continue my education through professional development and conferences gathering the latest research and strategies to implement with my students. My aim is to develop confident readers by providing a structured, systematic program, that is research based, multi-sensory, fun and engaging!
