In this ongoing social skills class, we will use common fairy tales and fables to explore relationships, emotions, empathy and other core social emotional learning objectives that provide a foundation for friendships and life.
Class experience
How can I be a good friend? What does empathy mean? Why is honesty important? These are questions that can take a lifetime to answer as we learn and grow. This class will help your learner start to practice the skills that will help them foster positive relationships with others and with themselves. This ongoing class will focus on social emotional skills such as: respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness, self-control/self-regulation, perseverance, empathy, cooperation, self-confidence,...
Many fairy tales have some spooky components. I will intentionally minimize these factors. I will use the essential plot points of the stories to maintain the emphasis on that week's focus skill.
