In this complete introductory lesson, the children will learn basic greetings, numbers from 1 to 10, and 10 colours. The students will be made aware that Spanish is a very useful language to learn. We will learn that there are 21 countries in the world where people speak Spanish. Inputs will be presented with vibrant slide shows carefully made. We will use Rockalingua videos and songs. All participants will be given a certificate of assistance and completion of Spanish Numbers and Colours by My Spanish Hub. The session will be structured into four parts: 1st part of the session Welcome everyone Icebreakers getting to know each other Why is Spanish such a useful language to learn? (encouraging participation) 2nd part of the session Greetings input Hello, my name is What’s your name? Goodbye Thank you Children will be encouraged to practice with each other (role-play or game). A few minutes of recapping the first part of the session 3rd part of the session: Colours and numbers Input the numbers from 1 to 10 and the colours. First, we will show vocabulary in a dynamic way. Each child will have the song worksheet with them to enable us to work through it together in a very relaxed and fun way. During video time, the children won't be expected to memorise but to enjoy and absorb the language naturally. I understand every child is different, so I work with each child as an individual, waiting for them to chip in as much or as little as they wish. To be able to internalise and put into practice what they have learned, they will make their own picture dictionary. 4th and final part of the session Quick recap Circle time. Checking how everyone is doing. Questions, clarifications, and misconceptions. Ofcourse, looking at each other's work (if desired) Good-bye. What materials will we use? This is a very interactive class where the children will require colours , scissors and printouts that will be e-mailed to them prior to the lesson. The presentations are created by me using Canva, and the videos we will see are from Rockalingua. My teaching style Children learn best when they are happy. Create not only a lesson but a social space where the child feels relaxed, joyful and comfortable. I like the children not only to learn the language but to make connections with the culture. I prepare each lesson to make the material relevant to them. Teaching in context is always important, so the child doesn't realise he or she is learning; he or she is just enjoying it. To me, each child is an individual, and that is a very important and enriching part of my classroom.

Teacher expertise and credentials
¡Hola!
Thank you for stopping by!
My name is Nelly. I'm a Spanish and meditation teacher who loves writing children's stories. I have published 2 childrens books.
First of all, I would like to tell you that I absolutely love teaching children! For me it is very important that the children feel free with their learning. I support their creative thinking so my lessons are always a relaxed space where everyone feels valued, happy and inspired.
I have worked in primary and secondary schools for many years, teaching a wide variety of things. The idea to create My Spanish Hub was born when I saw the children leaving the Spanish lesson full of enthusiasm going around the school teaching others what they had learned. I never felt so fulfilled. Besides teaching online and working in schools I run community Spanish, art and culture workshops.
My qualifications:
Specialisation Diploma Teaching Spanish to children (ELE)
Journalism studies at the University of Journalism in radio, art, and TV in Mexico City (UNAM).
Honours foundation degree in Art and Design (Art Institute, Bournemouth, UK)
NVQ in supporting teaching and learning in schools.
About me:
I was born in Mexico City where I was a professional Journalist and photographer for many years. My work included: newspapers, magazines, National Delegation of Culture Mexico City, TV, Films, and Museums.
Although I was born in Mexico I have lived in Salisbury, a city in England for many years. Our family is made up of my husband, my son who we have brought up bilingually, and our cat called Pedro who likes eating grapes and avocados.
I love making piñatas, cooking, and watching films and history documentaries with my family.
My journey as an educator began when my son started school. I fell in love with teaching. Over the years working in schools I have gained lots of experience not only in teaching an extensive variety of things but teaching to different audiences; different children, cultures, personalities, and needs. Constantly undergoing training ranging from special needs, safeguarding, teaching styles, etc.
I love learning and improving myself.
I have many interests, experiences, and skills that I would love to share with the Outschool learners.
My teaching philosophy:
To get the children inspired!
Children learn best when they are happy.
My lessons are planned so the learning is fun and relevant to the children. Each child is an individual and that is what makes the classroom so rich.
My classes provide a relaxed atmosphere where the children feel confident and feel a sense of belonging.
I’m fully committed to making the children's learning a rich and fun experience. I’m always happy to answer any questions from parents or children before enrolling in my classes, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Gracias
Nelly
