We will include ear-training and eye-training as well. My classes are interactive, empowering and student-centered. To provide the best visual experience for learners, both an overhead view of the piano as well as a virtual midi keyboard to highlight the keys will be presented. Pages from Faber's book, alongside fun and engaging slides that can be annotated will be screen-shared with learners during class. Each week I encourage learners to send weekly progress videos so I can provide individual feedback. If you have any questions regarding the class please feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to singing and playing with your learner!
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, we will learn how to play with a round handshape, play with all fingers, press with firm fingertips, imitate rhythms, play 2 and 3 black-key songs, identify loud and soft sounds, high and low sounds and play some simple songs with quarter notes, using C D E keys.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome!
My name is Helen (you can also call me Mrs. Helen). I have been teaching music for the past 20 years. I teach mainly beginner and intermediate piano and singing to learners ages 4-13. I received my music education through the Royal Conservatory of Music, completing Level 10 in both Piano and Singing.
I believe education should be fun, uplifting, and empowering. I value a safe and playful learning space where learners can express, create and explore. Through play-based learning, I help learners develop meaningful connections with music and with themselves. I am a compassionate and patient teacher who loves watching learners grow and succeed.
When I am not teaching, I am often busy at home with my adorable toddler and baby. I love green juices (wheatgrass anyone?) and espressos (long please!). Besides teaching music, I am also a holistic nutritionist and have been in the health and wellness field for about 8 years.
Are you ready to play and sing? I look forward to making music with you soon.
