25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, we will use simple household materials to create beautiful butterflies and/or flowers to give to someone special as a gift. The class will follow the following format: 1. Show and share: learners are encouraged to bring something to share in class, such as a photo of their mom/aunt/grandmother, or whoever they will be sharing their gift with! 2. Color chromatography experiment set-up and predictions 3. While our experiment runs, we will discuss the science behind it. 4. We will engage in color mixing experimentation while we wait for our creations to dry. 5. Then, we will assemble our final product! The class will also be given an optional "homework" of making rainbow carnations! This will be demonstrated by the teacher but students are welcome to also participate if they have the optional supplies. Some parental assistance will be needed for our youngest learners when setting up the experiment.
