Beginning Life Science: Egg to Butterfly
In this one time class, learners will discover the journey of a egg turning a caterpillar then into a butterfly. They will also learn what butterflies eat, fun facts, and the differences between butterflies and moths.

US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner Level
5 minutes: This time will be spent talking about butterflies and the life stages they go through. Learners will use their background knowledge to discuss what they already know about butterflies. 20 minutes: I will read National Geographic Kids: Caterpillar to Butterfly by Laura Marsh to the learners. I will pause throughout the book to point out important pictures, vocabulary, and let learners ask questions about butterflies. 10 minutes: Students will draw a picture diagram of how an egg turns into a butterfly. 5 minutes: I will wrap up the lesson by reviewing how an egg becomes a butterfly, what they eat, and the differences between butterflies and moths. 5 minutes: I will give the students some follow up activities such as a short verbal quiz on butterflies and where they can buy live caterpillars to watch them grow into butterflies and then release them. * This class will be taught regardless of how many learners sign up for it. * Class time may be adjusted according to the number of those signed up.
