The course is a beginning level Spanish course. Students will learn basic questions in Spanish. They will also learn action words, days of the week, months of the year, animals, family, and shapes in Spanish. Students will learn to speak and read in the target language as well. The course will implement movement throughout instruction to foster high levels of student engagement and learning. Students will have fun as they learn with our puppet friend Allie. The questions of focus for this course are as follows: ¿Qué te gusta hacer? (action words) ¿Qué día es hoy? (days of the week) ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? (months of the year) ¿Cuál es tu animal favorito? (animals) ¿Cómo es tu familia? (family) Las Formas (Shapes) Additional vocabulary will be taught within the context of each question. WEEKLY COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: WEEK ONE (Days of the Week) WEEK TWO (Months of the Year) Focus Question: ¿Qué día es hoy? Focus Question: ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? Hello friends! I am a certified Spanish/ESOL teacher and I am very excited to have the privilege of teaching on this platform. I am a mother of five boys and I enjoy spending time with my family. I have 20 years of teaching experience and I absolutely LOVE working with students. I obtained BA in Spanish with a minor in Early Childhood Education, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Carolina. I also obtained a second M.Ed. from Southern Wesleyan University. I have done various studies on how children learn language. I found that students learn best and have a higher retention rate when they have an opportunity to use visual, physical, and verbal modalities simultaneously. Students enjoy learning when they are engaged and enjoying the learning process. As a result, I strive to create exciting classes that are educational and fun.
