Beginning our class with introductions and an affirmation to set the tone for our learning environment. We then will move onto introducing our learning objectives and key points of the lesson. Utilizing researched slides and videos to reiterate talking points and facts, this class will focus on the history and ideology/theology surrounding mermaids. I hold 2 degrees. One in Africana/Black Studies and one in Social Sciences. I am currently enrolled in a masters program for African Studies with a minor in Education. I also homeschool my own children and create all of their history/social studies content.

This class will highlight and discuss the African theology of Mami Wata- guardians of the sea who save souls lost to the ocean during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. This class will also talk about death and rebirth in regards to theologies centering Mermaids and Siren.
