I'm Charlie Jenkinson, and I have spent my career as an educator not only helping learners in my subject areas (Geography, History and Global Affairs) but also helping all young people develop the understanding, skills and tools to live their best life. I have collaborated with world class educators from around the world to develop programs and experiences that help learners develop a sense of purpose in their life, and then craft their own journey through all the opportunities that are now available so they can personalise their education and live their best life. 

I have spent most of my career in the UK's leading independent boarding schools and then working for global education organisations innovating in education and making excellence accessible. I have held numerous leadership roles and held very diverse portfolios within the schools I have worked giving me a deep understanding of the academic, personal and extra-curricular needs learners have. I recognise the existing education system does not work for all learners and even for those who thrive within it, they often need access to more than it can provide. This is why I work to lead change in education, am increasingly involved in the home education community (indeed my 7 year old son is no longer in school) and continue to work with educators around the world to learn from the very best thinking and practice. 

I have always tried to approach learning from the perspective of the learner, working hard to identify what is relevant to them right now, where their interests lie and how to use this to drive intrinsic motivation. I love to create learning environments where learners explore, and then based on what emerges I help provide the activities, questions and support that enable them to grow and become successful independent learners. I have specialised in creating innovative programs for developing independent learners through personalised experiences, and I use the approach of a coach during live sessions to help generate self-belief within each learner. 

I love to explore other places through travel and reading and my wife and I believe in giving our children a life of adventure as they learn and grow. I am just as content exploring through foraging in our local neighbourhood as I am travelling big distances but always with a desire to learn something new.
