Class Experience
Inches, centimeters, millimeters and more! In this class we will learn about a variety of different units of measurement. Measurement is used in a variety of settings from a scientists lab, a farmers barn and your very own kitchen. Throughout the discussion portion of class we will practice utilizing various units of measurement to measure the things in our immediate environment. Then we will create a treasure map to practice what we have learned. The style of this class is student centered...
-Students will be able to identify a variety of units of measurement. -Students will be able to make a treasure map using measurements learned in class.
I have a Montessori teaching certificate for the lower elementary level and have received training which included math for this grade level.
-Brown paper bag -Scissors -Crayons -Markers -A ruler -Some scratch paper to write your map key on. It can be lined paper or a notebook. Whatever you like!
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners have the option of using scissors to make their map. If needed, please supervise. Otherwise it is perfectly acceptable to tear the map giving it a fun crinkled appearance.
