May the Fourth Star Wars Trivia Challenge
Class experience
Happy Star Wars Day! Join fellow Star Wars fans on May 4 to complete a challenging Star Wars crossword puzzle. The group will work together as a team to read questions, answer questions correctly, and spell complicated Star Wars names. Students are encouraged to bring their Star Wars visual dictionaries and encyclopedias or any info they think will help the group. Costumes, masks, and props are also encouraged! Outside of class, all students will have access to an in-depth Star Wars Kahoot...
Students will use their love of Star Wars to practice reading and spelling. They will learn how to answer a crossword puzzle using strategic key letters and blanks within a word. They may also practice researching and finding answers, either online or in visual dictionaries or encyclopedias they bring to class.
For the past year on Outschool, I have led daily Star Wars discussion groups, Star Wars book discussion groups, and Star Wars movie clubs. While earning my Master's Degree in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults, I had endless discussions with my screenplay writer friends about the Star Wars Universe. Star Wars is so complex and ever growing that it seems impossible to know it all! Because the Star Wars galaxy is complex and full of questions, trivia is a fun way to compare one's knowledge with other likeminded Star Wars fans. It is also nice to find other people (and potential friends) who share a love for Star Wars, science fiction, and good storytelling.
Students are encouraged to bring to class visual dictionaries, encyclopedias, or any info they think will help the group solve the crossword puzzle. I will provide winner certificates for the highest Kahoot score in each class as well as the top three scores overall.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Star Wars can be a graphic world, so class discussion/crossword answers may cover spaceships, high-stakes destruction, tense chases/crashes, peril, injury, weapons, (like lightsabers, blasters, arrows, and cannons), and characters who were injured or even died.
Students are encouraged to bring to class visual dictionaries, encyclopedias, or any info they think will help the group solve the crossword puzzle.
