Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
On the first tutoring lesson students will be given an assessment so that I can personalize the lessons for your child. After the initial class I will have a lesson based on your child's needs. Parent input is welcomed and encouraged so that I can be sure to help support and teach your child. During each class we may review math, reading, and/or writing skills. I love using puppets, songs, and slides to help your learner be fully engaged and have fun. Some of the skills we may focus on include letter identification, phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, number identification, counting, addition, subtraction, shapes, handwriting, and writing words or sentences. If you know what you would like me to focus on (for example sounding out words) please just write me a note at least 24 hours before the lesson so that I can tailor our lesson to your child's specific needs.

Each ongoing class will be individually tailored for your child after the initial assessment class (the first class.)
Please send me a message to let me know a little about your child's abilities and what you would like to focus on during class.

I absolutely love teaching! In my class we have fun learning to read, write, and practice math skills. In addition to academic classes, I also enjoy teaching character building concepts such as perseverance, kindness, and self control. I have been a kindergarten teacher for the last 14 years and a preschool teacher for several years before earning my degree in Early Elementary and my Masters in Special Education from the University of Florida. I teach classes to help young learners build confidence, continue their curiosity of new skills and have fun learning. I love teaching children about animals and I have some fun guided reading classes where we also learn amazing animal facts. I have had training on best practices in teaching, growth mindset, character counts training, and have taken several reading endorsement classes. I use songs, silly stories, and chants to help learners learn new skills. I hope to foster a love of learning and help your child be the best they can be.

I started teaching on Outschool in 2020 and I have met the most wonderful learners these past few years. Along with teaching amazing learners on Outschool I also homeschool my son who has Down syndrome. I have also developed a reading and learning program for my son and other learners with intellectual disabilities. I have been tutoring young learners with Down syndrome with my program as well as teaching a class to a small group of learners with Ds at our local Down syndrome association once a week.

I am so excited to teach and encourage your learner! My goal is to make learning fun and give your learner the tools and practice they need to learn new skills. I love using a multi sensory approach to learning.
