Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
1-on-1 tutoring for a variety of math topics for grades 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th.
Topics that may be covered are basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Basic fractions, graphing, and geometry. Word problems and some steps to solve those and how to apply them to real life situations. They way I would like to teach is starting by understand what topics or content the student may be struggling with or need an extra boost of help in. I would explain what it is and how we solve it and then we would do some guided practice and then independent practice. My style is to allow the student to work on problems by their self and provide minimal guidance. If the student is still struggling then I will provide more guidance, if not, then the student can do the work alone. Eventually the student show be able to do the problem on their own with no guidance. A way to get learners to interact is through some games, video clips that can provide further explanation on topics, a little bit of a lecture to give explanation, and then working on guided practice.

Common structure will be :
Warm-up problems (5 mins)
Direct instruction (15 mins.)
Guided practice (20 mins)
Independent practice (10 mins)
Wrap up/questions or clarification (5 mins)

Learning Goals

Students will understand and solve basic equations in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
