"Horse Crazy" masterpiece class will focus on artists who drew, printed, or painted horses. In each lesson, we'll introduce an artist, learn about their work, and use one of their masterpieces to inspire our own paintings and drawings. Some projects may require more drawing fluency than some other Masterpiece Academy courses, so prepare for a challenge! Each class will feature a horse-themed painting or drawing project, inspired by artists such as: - Franz Marc - Albrech Durer - Rosa Bonheur - Frederick Remington - Peter Paul Reubens - and others! Here's how our classes will be structured: Students will follow along with a teacher-led demonstration to draw their own miniature masterpieces. Together, we will create a beautiful artwork, step-by-step. Although specific instructions will be provided, students are encouraged to add their own unique, creative details to their paintings & drawings. Techniques we will explore include: - Both realism and abstraction - Gesture drawing - Adding background/environment - And of course, drawing horses! My goal for students is that after we practice these techniques together, students will be able to apply them to artworks they create on their own! **Although each demonstration will be finished by the end of class, students who work more slowly may need or wish to continue drawing after we have signed off for the day. Everyone works at a different speed, and it's better to take our time than to rush! ***************************************** To see more of Ms. Kristy's classes, visit my teacher profile here: https://outschool.com/teachers/Kristine-Mankin#us3u0MdGLD
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice drawing strategies, oil pastel techniques, and watercolor painting techniques. We will practice drawing and painting with a wide range of styles and subjects. We will learn about the characteristics of a new artist/artwork/art movement each day, and apply them to the artworks we create together.

As a traditional classroom teacher, many of the lessons I designed were inspired by the work of master artists throughout history. This class combines all of my very favorite things: artist studies, art history, drawing, painting, and still leaves room for each student's unique creative spark. I'm excited to share these quick, fun lessons with my students!
