Class Experience

In this ongoing art course students will learn how to draw a different character each lesson from popular manga and anime shows in the anime style! We will start with Eri from My Hero Academia, Killua from Hunter X Hunter, Akko - Little Witch Academia and more.

Don't worry if you don't know the characters - in each lesson we will watch a short clip of these people in action in the cartoons they belong to. This is a great way to introduce the characters and get everyone excited about recreating them at home. We will then go through step by step instructions on how to draw these anime style characters with discussion throughout about anime, manga and drawing! Learners will also get a chance to ink and colour their anime drawings at the end.

This class will be great for students to practice drawing anime characters in various styles, pulling different expressions and in different poses, with changing outfits! I like to use slides and live drawing to demonstrate how to draw each step and give a brief background about where the characters come from and what their characteristics are.

My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well and sensitively pointing out where they could improve. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. The students will need a pencil, an eraser, some plain paper and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. They are also welcome to use paints also if they would like to colour in with those. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, anime and how to draw! This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate anime artists.

Once we get to the last character the class will loop back round to Eri again and start from there so each student gets a chance to draw them all no mater where you start! Do send me a message if you wish to know which character we are currently on.

Hello! My name is Harriet Horner and I am from London in the UK. I teach creative classes, including interesting and dynamic art classes, along with art history classes. They including a lot of making and creating from the students side and most importantly they are very fun!

I have a bachelors degree in Fine Art from University of the Arts London and have worked with the acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor for over 3 years. I also have my own art studio and have exhibited my art work around London and in the Venice Biennale! As well as my colourful art background I have also obtained a TEFL and have been teaching English online to foreign students from the ages of 5 - 12. I love it! But I cant wait to combine my love of art with my love of teaching and believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject will bring a great learning experience to my students.

I believe the best way to learn is through doing so I always encourage my students to get involved, get stuck in and trust in the process! I love to interact with my students and get to know them in the lessons. I am an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient teacher who will give my students the tools they need to let their creativity flow and positive reinforcement to help boost their confidence in their own creative skillset.
