US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this one time class activity, learners will explore a Willy Wonka themed escape room and work together with new friends to find their way out of the abandoned chocolate factory. This escape room experience gives learners the opportunity to practice 1st and 2nd grade addition and subtraction math concepts through interactive game play. This escape room class activity is #1 in a series of 4: #1 - Help Charlie Find Grandpa Joe! #2 - Help Charlie's friends find their parents! #3 - Help Charlie find the Oompa Loompa's! #4 - Help Everyone get back home! Each learner will work collaboratively with the rest of their classmates to complete challenges along the way. The instructor will assist when necessary and guide learners to complete the challenges. The challenges in this class activity will encourage learners to think for themselves, work together, be creative, utilize problem-solving strategies and practice their knowledge of the above mentioned math concepts. Due to the nature of escape rooms, this class may last slightly longer or finish slightly earlier than the allotted time. Escape rooms can sometimes be fast-paced so please come on time ready to go! <<< DISCLAIMER >>> This math game is not designed to teach addition or subtraction. Students should already be somewhat familiar with each of the math concepts mentioned. This activity is only intended for practicing and mastering addition and subtraction further. ❗❗ 👑 IMPORTANT: KPE POLICIES 👑 ❗❗ Please click the following link to read our policies regarding: (1) Class Minimum Policy (2) Tardiness Policy (3) Camera Policy (4) Class Recording Policy (5) Makeup Class Policy (6) Transfer Policy (7) Refund Policy https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-muzsZCpFdu4u_I4MSb_yYypftxpDDSmfsMd8x9eZIs/edit?usp=sharing

Parental Guidance
This escape room class activity will be highly interactive and very engaging. Each student will be given an opportunity to contribute ideas and answers within the group. Unfortunately, not all students will answer correctly. Learners should be able to exhibit good sportsmanship regardless if their answer is correct or their suggestion is implemented.
While there may be some references to things like dangerous areas, creepy rooms, rescuing friends and fighting monsters, it is all Willy Wonka-themed and kid-friendly. The challenges are not designed to be stressful.
In this club the materials will be presented to the learners via an interactive Canva or Google slideshow presentation (shared on the teacher's device, only). No external links will be clicked. No additional websites will be visited. No additional logins are necessary for the learners.
Supply List
Sometimes enrolled learners choose to have scratch paper on side of them to help think through the process. Writing isn't necessary for solving all of the challenges; however, having a couple sheets of scratch paper can be helpful for visualizing and jotting down notes.
