My expertise as a home educator and private school teacher have afforded me 10+ years teaching math concepts to students of all ages. Throughout those years I have developed many ways to make math mastery attainable for learners within the different levels. I have experience teaching students both virtually and in person. I also have experience teaching both academic and enrichment subjects.
There is no required homework; however, students are encouraged to continue practicing their math concepts outside of our club, so that they can level up faster.
2 files available upon enrollmentSometimes enrolled learners choose to have scratch paper on side of them to help think through the process. Writing isn't necessary for solving all of the challenges; however, having a couple sheets of scratch paper can be helpful for visualizing and jotting down notes.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This escape room class activity will be highly interactive and very engaging. Each student will be given an opportunity to contribute ideas and answers within the group. Unfortunately, not all students will answer correctly. Learners should be able to exhibit good sportsmanship regardless if their answer is correct or their suggestion is implemented. While there may be some references to things like dangerous areas, creepy rooms, rescuing friends and fighting monsters, it is all Willy Wonka-themed and kid-friendly. The challenges are not designed to be stressful. In this club the materials will be presented to the learners via an interactive Canva or Google slideshow presentation (shared on the teacher's device, only). No external links will be clicked. No additional websites will be visited. No additional logins are necessary for the learners.
