Beginner - Intermediate Level
Students will learn to draw a castle using basic shapes, and then add their own unique details and colors! Session 1: We will discuss what castles traditionally looked like and what they were made of, looking at basic shapes and colors. We will practice using lines and shapes to draw a castle, then determine what colors we want, and color our practice drawings with crayonhs. If time permits, we will begin our final copy. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Castles; Starting the ArtStudents will practice drawing a traditional European style castle using simple lines and shapes. The teacher will demonstrate different ideas for added details that students can try, or use as a springboard for their own ideas. The video will end with the outlining of the final copy drawing with a Sharpie.Week 2Lesson 2Finishing the ArtThe teacher will demonstrate coloring techniques on the final copy castle using colored pencil, crayon, and/or watercolor techniques.
Students will learn the concept of architecture, and how to build upon a simple design using shapes and patterns.
As a veteran art teacher, I have successfully developed methods for helping children break down seemingly complicated drawing tasks into simple steps for successful drawing. Castles are so much fun to draw because they allow for a lot of imagination to take place!
