*Please note that this is an ongoing class, which means that you can join in at any time and that you only pay for the weeks that you sign up for.* Our Class Each class will begin with an opening verse. We may review and practice forms from previous classes to determine how student's skills are developing. At times we may also begin with a short series of spatial exercises to ready the body for listening and drawing. Each week we will hear a new poem or story that will inspire the forms we draw for the class. Themes for the Level Four Class include Greece and Rome and Geometry. At this level we will be working on the most advanced forms as well as incorporating Geometry in order to create our forms. What is form drawing? Form drawing is a technique commonly used in Waldorf Schools to help children learn shapes, develop spatial skills, set the base for and improve handwriting, and learn about geometic shapes and how they can be created, as well as how to use color to create patterns. It consists of a series basic forms which will build into increasingly complex geometric shape and finally a complex pattern composed of the shapes that have been learned. Drawing forms, while it may seem simple at first glance, involves developing the use of a steady hand, good concentration skills and a firm grasp of the use of lines and curves. These lines and curves are the foundation for all things both drawn and written.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I've studied and used form drawing in the classroom for approximately 3 years now in both public school and online settings for ages 6 to 14. I've been working through my Waldorf teacher training through The Sophia Institute and I am currently working on their program for Biography Work by writing my own biography, in the light of anthroposophy and Steiner's 7 year cycles, with the hope to eventually work with individuals and groups in order to assist them in writing their own biography. Furthermore, I've been involved with our local Waldorf school as both a parent and teacher since 2010. I am a firm believer in the Waldorf philosophy and as an artist and art teacher I believe strongly in the benefits of learning form drawing in order to help my students in other aspects of their lives and education.
