Have you ever wondered what is the largest fish in the sea? Have you ever wondered why people are afraid of sharks? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to touch a shark? If so, then this class is for you! In this one-time class, we will discuss the fascinating world of sharks. We will go over the parts of a shark and what makes them so successful as predators. We will discuss behaviors and basic biology of sharks, as well as discuss some of the more common types of sharks. We will even discuss some of the not so well-known shark cousins, such as the rays and skates. This class will be offered as a discussion based class, with images, video clips, questions, games, and a quiz to sum up our learning. No prior knowledge is necessary...just a desire to learn about these amazing creatures.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to recognize a shark and be able to describe the important features of sharks. They will also learn about their biology and behaviors that make these animals successful predators.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there!
My name is Kathy and I have been a certified science teacher the last 20 years! My favorite classes to teach are any that have to do with the ocean, and its inhabitants. I have a degree in Marine Biology, am a certified SCUBA diver, have taught aquatic summer camps at a local aquarium, and have volunteered for multiple aquariums and rescue groups.
I also love to craft...in particular, to create things with my Cricut. I also have a degree in Fashion Design and love to sew. I look forward to adding classes that focus on each of these passions.
As a teacher, I often notice students lacking the technology skills needed to be successful in the classroom. I will also offer classes on how to use programs such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and a variety of other applications often used.
I really look forward to meeting you!
