Teacher will tell the students what we're going to play in the second class(eg., moving beans to another dish.) Practicing with materials would be great, but it's optional.Class Experience
Are you interested in Asian culture? Do you want to try new foods with a new equipment? Do you want to look cool when you're eating Korean food? Let's try chopsticks and learn about it! I'm Ethan from Korea, who has used chopsticks for 28 years. Let's learn how to use chopsticks, and play games with those! Furthermore, we're going to learn about history, science, and culture of chopsticks. This class is a 2-week course. Here's the plan of the course! The first class : We're going to learn about history, science, and culture of chopsticks. Who would have used chopsticks first? How would the old chopsticks look? Why do they look different in Korea, China, and Japan? Why are some chopsticks made from metal, when others are made from wood? Why are we using chopsticks? After we learn about interesting things about chopsticks, we're going to learn how to hold the chopsticks on the right way, and practice grabbing things. The second class : We're going to play games with chopsticks! Let's see how much you improved your skill in a week with challenging games. We're going to use chopsticks with 8 different materials we prepared (I'm going to mention what we need to prepare in the first class.) Let's see who's the best! This class doesn't require any background knowledge. I strongly recommend to prepare a pair of chopsticks for the first and the second classes, and other materials I mention for the second class, which are for games. You'd be still welcome to join without those, if it's impossible to prepare those. If you're just interested in history, science, and culture of chopsticks and you want to use it later, I think it's still going to be worth to spend time here together :)
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to use chopsticks after this class. Learners will learn how to practice the skills after class, and understand the history, science, and culture over usage.
