Is it snowing where you live? If not, we will just have to use our special artistic skills to create snowmen! Following introductions I will introduce how to use a snowman glyph. Glyphs are a great way for students to follow oral and written directions to create individual masterpieces. For example, if winter is the child's favorite season, then they will give their snowman a green scarf. If not, they will color the scarf red. I will read the directions aloud, as well as hold up cards with the directions drawn and written. It is amazing to see how children answer all of the questions differently so that every snowman is unique! We will share and take note of classmates that answered similarly to help them make connections. After we create our snowmen it will be time to make them dance. I will share step by step directions for turning the snowman into a dancing snowman that will impress everyone! Please check the supply list and have all materials ready for class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs. Jen, and I am so excited you stopped by my classroom! I love working with children and have been certified to teach Pre-K through 6th grade. After several years of experience teaching in the elementary classroom I decided to stay home with my own children. During this time I have organized play groups with educational activities, volunteered in elementary school classrooms and the school library, and served as the communications director for our school PTO.
I have a BA in Spanish language and literature from Hanover College and a MAEd in elementary education from the College of William and Mary.
I believe that everyone is capable of learning. As a teacher I can help guide students so they can reach their potential and have a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning. I love that Outschool is giving me the flexibility to teach about the things I am most passionate!
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to go camping, hike, bake treats, create science challenges, and read books together!
I look forward to helping your child learn something new!
