🙂😬😔😩😡🥺😀 Emotions are something that we all experience. They are a normal part of life! However, BIG emotions can feel quite overwhelming for children who do not yet have the language to describe what they are feeling, nor the skills to process these BIG emotions in healthy ways. When we give children the language to describe what they are feeling and the tools to process these BIG emotions, they are able to navigate the various emotions they experience in healthy ways. When children have healthy ways to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, it leads to less frustration for them and the adults in their lives! In this on-going class, Ms. Price will help learners understand what emotions are, how they feel in our bodies, and healthy ways to express our emotions. One key that Ms. Price will highlight is that there are no “bad” emotions; all emotions serve a purpose! What we do with our emotions can lead to healthy and not-so-healthy outcomes, and we will explore both! The curriculum used for this class is 100% teacher-created. It includes a variety of real-life photographs, shown on screen, so that learners can see other children in real-life situations experiencing different emotions. We will use the children in the photos to discuss what the children are feeling, what they might be experiencing, and some tools they can use. Towards the end of class, learners will be given the opportunity to draw a picture and/or write a sentence or two about a strategy that they learned that day on a teacher-provided hand out that will be posted to the classroom. This helps to integrate the learning! Finally, after class, Ms. Price will upload to the classroom a Family Resource Page with a recap of the strategies learned in that days' lesson so that parents can review the strategies and help their learner to practice them throughout the week! PLEASE NOTE: This is an on-going class, which means each lesson is a stand-alone lesson, and learners can join at any time! Each week, learners will add another tool to their “emotional intelligence toolbox.” The longer they are enrolled in this class, the more tools they will have in their toolbox! . . . TEACHING STYLE: My teaching style is very interactive, and this class will be no different! While this class is content heavy, learners will be allowed to stay un-muted and interact as the content is presented. CLASS SIZE: This class requires a minimum of 3 learners per class to make sure we have the social interaction that is an integral part of this class experience. If a particular section does not meet the 3-learner minimum, I'll reach out to parents at least 24 hours in advance and offer the option to transfer to another section or receive a refund. SIBLINGS: This is a wonderful class for siblings to take together! Please note, due to Outschool policy, each learner must be registered for the class, even if they are sharing one screen. Also, each learner must fall within the 6-10 age range. TOPICS: This class has 10 topics that we will rotate through, from some of the more common emotions, like happy, sad, and angry, to some more nuanced emotions. Your child can hop into the rotation at any time and stay as long as they wish. For some children, going through the 10 topics once might feel like enough. However, young children learn through repetition, so many parents choose to keep their children enrolled through more than one round so that the content is better integrated. Week of February 27: Happy/Joy Week of March 6: Scared/Afraid Week of March 13: Mad/Angry Week of March 20: Sad Week of March 27: NO CLASS Week of April 3: Curious Week of April 10: Frustrated Week of April 17: Grateful Week of April 24: Disgusted Week of May 1: Brave Week of May 8: Jealous . . . 📚 CLASS POLICIES 📚 MUTING: I love a highly interactive class, and I do not require students to be muted in my classes. That said, if there is a lot of background noise going on in a home, I will quietly mute that learner's camera so that other learners are not distracted by the noise. The learner is always welcome to unmute to ask questions or share! CLASS RECORDING POLICY: When you pay for one of my classes, you are paying for the LIVE class, just like if this were an in-person class! I do not share recordings of my group classes in order to protect the privacy of all learners. However, you are welcome to reach out if you have specific questions about something covered in class! For this particular class, I also provide a Family Resource Guide after each class that highlights what we covered in class that day. REFUND POLICY: This is a weekly, on-going class. Your weekly payment reserves a spot just for your child! Per Outschool policy, refunds are not issued for missed classes or late withdrawals, as your child's spot was held whether or not they attended the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English from Texas Woman's University
As an EC-4 (Early Childhood - 4th Grade) certified teacher, Ms. Price has worked with a variety of different types of learners over the years, including many students who struggled to find appropriate ways to express their emotions. One of Ms. Price's favorite parts of her role as an elementary school teacher is teaching children strategies to navigate their emotions in healthy ways, so that they are able to be successful in all areas of life! Ms. Price was also a certified therapeutic foster parent, parenting children from hard places and helping them to process their experiences and find ways to adapt and cope in healthy ways.
Ms. Price has received additional training in helping children to navigate their emotions through two specific programs:
1. Capturing Kids Hearts, which is a professional development program that helps teachers "capture kids hearts," helping them to grow their social capacity, emotional capacity, and learning capacity. https://www.capturingkidshearts.org
2. Trust-Based Relational Intervention, which is a fabulous training for those working with children who have had a difficult start in life (parents, teachers, counselors, etc.). It focuses on meeting the emotional needs of children, so that they can develop into confident, well-rounded individuals! https://child.tcu.edu/about-us/tbri/
Ms. Price incorporates all of these experiences and professional trainings into both the content of this class and the way she engages with learners during the class.
