In this Creative Action class students explore age appropriate books about LGBTQIA characters and themes, receive a coloring sheet for each class, and spend time with Mylo, a queer activist and artist.

Class experience

Students will learn about diversity, empathy, and friendship through storytelling and literature. 
Mylo (they/them) is a teaching artist with a focus on social justice and the visual arts. They have 6+ years experience in formal academic settings as well as community education projects. Mylo is a native Texan currently based in Austin and received their MFA from Parsons School of Design.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will read stories with LGBTQIA characters and themes. Vocabulary such as "pronoun" and "gender" will be used in the context of the storytelling. 

Please note that we will relate themes of the books to our own experience, but this class will not be taught as therapy.
