Class experience
Students will learn about the Los Angeles Zoot Suit Riots, a series of conflicts that occurred in June 1943 between United States servicemen and Mexican American youths, the latter of whom wore outfits called zoot suits. Some Spanish words will be mentioned throughout this class with a translation provided. Students will learn about the Zoot Suit riots that occurred in Los Angeles during World War II.
Mrs. Sara is a Mexican-American Latina who is passionate about teaching students Latina/o/x history. She holds a Master's Degree in Education and has relatives who live in the Los Angeles area that have a personal connection to the Zoot Suit Riots.
