US Grade 7 - 10
Beginner - Intermediate Level
What will be taught? ---------------------- Full year curriculum (24 weeks) Introductory topics(12 weeks) followed by Intermediate topics(12 weeks) What topics will be covered? ---------------------------- Introductory: Variables, Strings, loops, conditions, methods, arrays, classes, class relationships, algorithms Intermediate: Exceptions, abstract classes, interfaces, access modifiers, enums, constants, object equality How is the class structured? ---------------------------- We go through each topic one at a time. Topics may or may not build on each other. We do lots of explanation and practice during the live class. Students can share their code using screen share or posting a link to their code. We solve errors together and ensure everyone has working code, before we move on to the next subtopic/topic. How I teach? ---------------------------- I will teach each topic with some code examples. We will code these together. I help students solve errors and answer their doubts and questions. Students are then expected to do homework related to the topic and submit on a weekly basis. It is not mandatory but highly encouraged if the student want to retain the knowledge well. Most of my learners describe me as great teacher, who is fun but also strict about learning expectations (aka their efforts). How much will learners interact with me? ---------------------------- Learners get to interact with me throughout the live class, as long as it is not disruptive to the class. Questions are always encouraged. I prefer to go slow and explain again versus rushing through basics, since that never helps with coding. What if my learner needs to miss a class? ---------------------------- Your learner can watch the recording for the missed week and do the homework posted to the classroom to be completely ready for the next session.
Learning Goals
Learners will learn to solve problems involving various types of variables on their own.
They will learn to use data structures such as arrays, classes, objects, built in Java objects.
