This is a single session class to help learners get a feel for learning sign language. We will cover vocabulary and grammar needed to introduce yourself and start up a conversation when meeting someone for the first time. This class is great for beginners. Having webcams on the entire time is required. I'll demonstrate signs, grammar, and facial expressions, asking the students the follow along by copying me. Students will learn: - American Sign Language and English have different grammatical structures - ASL is a language in its own right and does not mimic English word order - ASL uses facial expressions the way English speakers use tone of voice - Basic sentences (including necessary accompanying facial expressions) for conversational ASL when first meeting someone.
