In this flex class students will examine the 5 major world religions of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Students will be taught the major tenets and compare and contrast each of the religions.
Class experience
The goal of this flex short course is to help students understand the diverse religions and traditions around the world to help develop a wider world view and to better understand the world around them. In this 5 week course, students will be introduced to the 5 major world religions. These religions are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Students will examine the tenets of each of the 5 major world religions and will compare and contrast each of the religions while helping develop their world view.
I have been teaching middle school medieval world history for 15 years which includes the basic tenets of these major world religions. I am certified to teach 7th-12th grade history. I also majored in secondary history education at a private Christian school that required religion classes that covered these 5 major world religions.
