Description
Class Experience
Diagramming sentences is a lost art! Creating a diagram of a sentence enables learners to visually identify modifiers and multiple elements within a sentence. The confusion of adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and compound subjects, verbs, and sentences are better understood by visual and tactile learners when they learn how to diagram a sentence. Students should have a fundamental understanding of parts of speech and parts of the sentence prior to enrollment in this class. ...
Students will master the seven parts of speech via visual representation of sentence diagramming. Students will: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Explain the function of phrases and clauses in general and their function in specific sentences. Choose among simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences to signal differing relationships among ideas. Place phrases and clauses within a sentence, recognizing and correcting misplaced and dangling modifiers.*
The teacher is an experienced English Language Arts professional who has more than a decade of experience teaching grammar and writing to students in middle and/or high school.
