Students will master the seven parts of speech via visual representation of sentence diagramming.

Students will:
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

Explain the function of phrases and clauses in general and their function in specific sentences.

Choose among simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences to signal differing relationships among ideas.

Place phrases and clauses within a sentence, recognizing and correcting misplaced and dangling modifiers.*
The teacher is an experienced English Language Arts professional who has more than a decade of experience teaching grammar and writing to students in middle and/or high school.
None
Students may benefit from a whiteboard and dry erase markers for practice diagramming during class. These items are NOT required, but have been found to be helpful.
Informal Assessment during class
