In this lesson young coders will learn how to animate characters and create their own game in Scratch, the world's most popular programming language for children! The course is at a beginner to intermediate level for children. It is designed to introduce learners to the wonderful world of programming! Agenda: The lesson will begin by introducing Scratch, how create a new project, name it and save it Basic coding concepts will be discussed Children will learn how to choose, edit and animate their backgrounds and characters through step by step instructions Children will learn how to share their projects Coding Concepts Covered: - Loops - Conditionals (IF/THEN/ELSE) - Object Oriented Programming (Sprites) - Messages between sprites to run commands - Cloning - Velocity (along the x and y axes) - Adding sound effects - Adding animations - Events At Code Kids we pride ourselves on providing each child with the individual attention they deserve. Instructors match the pace of the class and make sure that each child gos away from our course having learnt something new. Note: Please make sure your child has an account with Scratch before joining the class. I've shared a link to the Scratch website under External Resources. Please have Scratch open and logged in at the start of class.

We are a London (England) based team of engineers, coders and developers who specialise in hands on learning. Our approach is project based. We don't teach coding for the sake of coding. We engage the children in coding projects that have a goal that is aligned to the students' interests. We may be new to Outschool, but we are 6 years old and have spent over 6000 hours teaching online since March 2020. We have a 5-star rating on Google and Facebook!
All our instructors have enhanced background checks on an annual basis, and have paediatric first aid certificates that are renewed every 3 years. We are also registered with the information commissioner's office and are general data protection regulation (GDPR) compliant (which means all your personal data is safe when you book with us, and is never shared with anyone else).
